COURSE OUTLINE

Designed for the non-major; an introductory look at the world of theatre--what IS this art form? Who creates theatre and how do they do it? How is theatre relevant to our world today? How do I find the best experiences for me?

SCENE STUDY

ONE-DAY WORKSHOP; HIGH SCHOOL FOCUS

REQUIRES 10 PARTICIPANTS/SITE

Student actors spend a full day in hands-on exploration of the most essential aspects of scenework; includes basic script analysis, creating a connection with a parner, and much, much more. The day concludes with a brief showcase performance for family and friends. 8 hrs total

$100 per student

DESIGN BASICS

ONE DAY WORKSHOP; HIGH SCHOOL FOCUS
REQUIRES 10 PARTICIPANTS/SITE

Created for students who have an interest in the world of technical theatre, this intensive explores the work of designers; includes study of how design supports the story being told, basic tools of designers, and hands-on work with elements of costume, scenic, and lighting design. The day concludes with a brief showcase of creative work for family and friends. 8 hrs total

FOUNDATIONS OF DIRECTING

ONE DAY WORKSHOP; HIGH SCHOOL FOCUS
REQUIRES 10 PARTICIPANTS/SITE

Designed for the more experienced student, this intensive explores the work of the master storyteller--the Director. Students experiment with core directing skills such as script analysis, collaborating with designers, working a scene with actors, etc. The day concludes with a brief presentation of creative work for friends and family. 8 hrs total

I'M TEACHING WHAT?!?!

ONE DAY WORKSHOP W/ FOLLOW UP 
CONSULTATIONS; HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER FOCUS
REQUIRES 4 PARTICIPANTS

Sometimes, administrators throw teachers a curveball! This intensive is designed for the brave teacher who has agreed to take on the theatre class (or production) even though this isn’t your field. We’ll work through the basics of planning a production, from initial budgeting through packing away the pieces when the show is over. We’ll also address basic rehearsal technique and designon-a-dime strategies for costumes and scenery.  No one can prepare for any course in just 8 hours, but we’ll give you tons of tried-and-true tools for beginning your journey! 8 hrs total
